Taking the youth group as an example, according to the Blue Book of Chinese National Mental Health (2019-2022), 30 million children under the age of 17 in China are troubled by various emotional and psychological behavioral problems. According to the China National Mental Health Development Report (2019-2020), the detection rate of depression symptoms among Chinese adolescents is 24.60%, which to some extent confirms the high incidence of depression among adolescents.
Looking at the elderly population, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics in 2021, there are approximately 267 million elderly people aged 60 and above in China, accounting for 17.9% of the overall population. A study by the Chinese Academy of Sciences found that the mental health rate of elderly people in urban areas is only 30.3%, while in rural areas it is only 26.8%. That is to say, in China, less than 30% of elderly people aged 60 and above have a good level of mental health.
